This building is part of the Calypso complex, designed by the English architect William Alsop. They finished erecting it only in 2013. The building symbolizes the flow from the newly build city center and the old Western part of the city.

Monday rush-hourMonday Window – Nov. 18, 2019 is my entry in this challenge.

Monday rush-hour in Japanese subway

This is a photo of a photo by Michael Wolf taken during an exhibition – Life in Cities – in the Hague. It perfectly captures the experience most Japanese – and gai-jin’s for that matter – must endure when traveling by subway in the notorious Monday rush-hour.

If you think you’re relatively safe from the madness if you’re so ‘lucky’ to have captured a window seat – think again! David Wolf’s exhibition certainly brought back lots of memories. Not all of them were good ones…

Dungeon windows

This photo I took in a place called Naarden Vesting in the Netherlands. This dungeon was well below the city walls that protected this town from (predominantly) the Spanish during the 80 years war. A war that raged from 1548 until 1628 (with a 12 year truce from 1609-1621).

Just try and imagine the fact that you were born when a war was raging, and you die in war time. As the average age during that period was well below 80 years.

And just to think about being captured as one of the bad guys and being locked up here.
