More Jaguar Light is my entry for January 12 in the month-long challenge #JanuaryLight hosted by the ever so gracious Becky of Winchester.
This 1957 Jaguar XK120 is in absolute concours condition. This beauty is part of the private collection of a friend who owns and runs vintage Jaguar garage. Restoration took him 13 years to get this cat looking like it does, and purring like she was brand new.
Or so I thought. There was a slight ticking in the motor, which was a good enough reason to pull the car in the shop again, take the engine out and rebuild it from the ground up.

Jaguar Light • #JanuaryLight. My next entry in the month-long challenge #JanuaryLight hosted by the ever so gracious BeckyB of Winchester.
This Jaguar Mark III is part of a private collection. I photographed it in a friend’s vintage Jaguar garage. Despite the somewhat grimy look it is reputedly one of the, if not the best classic Jaguar shop in the country.

Christmas in Moscow • #JanuaryLight. My next entry in the month-long challenge #JanuaryLights hosted by the ever so gracious BeckyB of Winchester.
Some of these Russian Christmas lights have a strange resemblance to WW II mines don’t you think?

This photo, taken in Clingendael, Wassenaar, The Netherlands immediately reminded me of that wonderful song by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band…
One of the wackiest songs of my youth… Made me wonder what Bruce Springsteen had been smoking (or popping) when he wrote these lyrics (at the time, I wanted some of that):
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the night
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuceMadman drummers bummers
Indians in the summer
With a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps
As the adolescent pumps
His way into his hat
With a boulder on his shoulder
Feelin’ kinda older
I tripped the merry-go-around
With this very unpleasin’
Sneezin’ and wheezin’
The calliope crashed to the ground
The calliope crashed to the groundWell she was
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the nightRepeat twice…
Some silicone sister
With a manager mister
Told me I got what it takes
‘I’ll tun you on sonny into something strong
Play the song with the funky break’
And go-cart Mozart
was checking the weather chart
Seeing if it was safe outside
And little early-pearly
Came by in his curly-wurly
Asked me if I needed a ride
The calliope crashed to the groundWell she was
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the nightShe got down but she never got tired
She’s gonna make it through the night
She’s gonna make it through the nightBut mama, that’s where the fun is
But mama, that’s where the fun is
Mama always told me not to look into the eye of the sun
But mamma, that’s where the fun isSome brimstone baritone anticyclone rolling stone
Preacher from the East
Says, ‘dethrone the Dictaphone, hit it in its funny bone
that’s where they expect it least’
And some new-mown chaperone was standing in the corner
Watching the young girls dance
And some fresh-sown moonstone was messing with his frozen zone
Reminding him of romance
The calliope crashed to the groundBut she was
Blinded by the light
Revved up like a deuce
Another runner in the nightRepeat 8 times
Blinded by the light
She got down but she never got tired
Bruce Springsteen
She’s gonna make it through the night
